nbn Fibre TV Information
How nbn Fibre TV Works
nbn uses multiple wavelengths to carry video signals to the development using the same fibre optic cable that provides the estate with internet services.
The wavelengths of the video signals differ from that of the internet, meaning they won’t interfere with each other in any way.
In each home, a Fibre Optic TV Receiver (TVR) is installed to filter out the Fibre TV signal and convert it into Radio Frequencies (RF) that can be distributed and received by the connected TVs. The TVR will be installed next to the Network Termination Device (NTD).
The Two Versions of nbn Fibre TV
The difference between nbn Fibre TV in MDUs and SDUs is the point where the TV signal gets injected into the nbn Network.
In general, in MDUs is the injection point within the property, meaning the development requires it’s own Foxtel Dish and FTA TV antenna.
As there is usually no ‘common’ property in SDUs, the injection point is before the Internet signal is split to the properties, usually in the Fiber Access Node (FAN).
